Beautiful. I very much enjoyed the tapestry analogy, viewing life’s moments as patches of color, texture, and design.
I have always said we were patchwork quilts but what I love about the tapestry is the overlapping, the repairs done to tapestry, the weaving of lives together.
In planning a women’s retreat a few years back we were focusing on “using our words as balm”. Being who I am I did some research on the word balm. In that search I came upon an article from a newspaper descibing a tapestry that was recently hung on a church wall. The beauty of the tapestry is found on the front but the detail on the back, wear all the knots are tied and woven together is where the real story is to be found.
Beautiful poem. Thanks for the share.
Oh what a great story that just makes my poem even more alive. thank you for sharing it.
Like a quilt made from remembered dresses and shirts…
The wearers still live
The quilters still live
The family still lives
In familiar patterns and colors
Hanging on the wall.
love this Ann and yes that is so true. HUGS friend
There is a profound depth to your poetry. This one recalls the old wisdom that “each scar tells a story of a life lived”.
thank you and yes…that is it exactly.
Very nice, the tapestry of one life with all its unique moments.
