Dare To Dream

The Saga Continues-Carpet Day At Last

Those days waiting on the carpet people seemed forever. It is amazing how a few days can seem forever when in reality it is but a spec in time. Patience was never my virtue but looking back I can definitely tell this was a lesson in patience starting back in 2005. Oh but that carpet felt so good and the house suddenly turned so quiet that it was amazing.  Son chose a Berber carpet because of my power chair. I thought he did a great job picking out the style and color. Ok, now on to carpet day last year.  It is a lot of pictures and I hope you enjoy. The last post on the Saga and a summary will be the house all fixed up. :)

The Saga Continues-Carpet Day At Last

Oh, I am so excited I could just squeal. HA!  Carpet day is here. They arrived about nine and have been working, doing my BR first but putting strips all over the house for the rest. Meanwhile, Jack and I are back here in the corner in the dining nook with piles of furniture between us and the workers. Jack is napping, Misty the bird is singing and I am feeling claustrophobic. Occasionally, son comes and helps me escape so I can take pictures.

Think if I send an SOS someone will come find me?  HA HA.  And here is where I am sitting and Jack is laying looking out the door. I opened the back door so he could escape occasionally but he does not want to leave his mama here. :)

The Carpet is being cut into room size pieces.

nice we have a concrete parking pad to put it on for them to cut

My bedroom is first and sitting ready, except for this part of my bed that son can not carry alone and I am no help with it.

Nailing down strips in bedroom and bathroom

Pad is down in my bedroom  YEA RAH!!

Nailing down strips in Living room.

Even the discomfort of being in here cooped up can not dim my excitement of having my carpet in..omg…I am so thrilled I could cry. Might be just a woman thing..but once carpet is in and furniture can be put in..HOME hits deep in the heart.   This is a huge day for me..and for son.  And then I can get the area rugs from storage. I have a victorian looking rug that will look great with my stained glass light.  So, now son is taking pics and handing me the camera as is too hard for me to get out now….these naughty legs are tired and swollen from sitting up so much..but that is ok…is TOOOOOO EXCITING!!

Here they are installing my carpet in my bedroom. OMG look how big my room looks. :)

Son comes out and says “Mom, if you smell something burning do not worry. They are just putting the seams together with that heat thing.

OH WOW, the Living room looks enormous. OMG.  I love it. I can’t wait to see the carpet in there…oh wow. I am just having a fit over here in the corner…want to run and throw myself down on the carpet and go “mine! mine! mine!”   hahaha.  And in the LR, we have this red area rug..big, that is Indian looking that will look great on top of the tan ber ber carpet. Why we chose such a neutral color.

Ok, and now trying to figure out how to get in the blocked fridge to make a sandwich and how to move this recliner so I can put my foot up. But I am too excited to lay down.  But I need too.. this poor foot of mine. The other one matches. OHHH but can’t let this stop me. I AM GETTING MY CARPET>>>>>dancing around the room I am in side. :)   Think this is from dancing too much this morning?  :)   nope..partly but mostly from dropping wrought Iron dinner table chair leg on my foot and busting my toe open.

This was a hallmark day and our house suddenly looked like a real house. It was the day we got our furniture in and placed that it took on the look of a home…our home. :)   I hope you are enjoying the look back and journey.
