The Good Side of My Cat Scan Trip
Time to go for the CAT Scan
I wish it were that simple. LOL Especially since I am claustrophobic. But below is the reality.
And many will not understand how that can be so painful or cause someone chronically ill to hurt and feel bad for a couple of days after, but it does. Riding in the car into our little town will make me hurt all over and exhaust me and takes me a day or two to catch up. One reason I stay home so much.
BACK from the CAT scan.
And look what the lady at the registering desk gave me.
A beautiful red rose. She knows me from having to go to the hospital so much. I thought that was so sweet. She also knows that CAT scans are hard for me.
And then riding home we saw about five deer in yards eating. They had their new antlers and they were still fuzzy looking.
I just happened to look down the alley and saw the deer so son circled around the block so maybe I could catch them to take pictures.
They are so pretty and look so healthy. They appear to have broken off from the bigger group that I saw last year. I do not know how that works…if the male takes so many females with him or what.
And would you all just look at son’s garden. I am so proud of him because to have a good garden takes a lot of work…especially out here. It is nothing like growing back in Georgia where you just stuck something in the ground and it took off. The ground here is horrible and the plants take a lot of tending and a lot of hoeing to keep the ground broken up enough around the plants so that the roots will grow deep into the soil. This picture of the big garden bed he made. The other side looks the same. We are eating tomatoes, peppers, snap peas, radishes, zucchini already and the other plants all have blooms all over them.
If anyone has recipes and ways to put up or can zucchini, I would appreciate it. I know the obvious..in salads or just alone with dressing, zucchini bread..although I do not have a recipe, and zucchini casserole. But am looking for other ways to keep them and to use them. Thanks
And last, but not least, my beautiful mountains. Sorry about the glare spots. That is a dirty windshield.

beautiful pictures i cant believe you got so close to those deer!! Sending good wishes and hopes you feel a little better soon, all the way from very rainy England
I know. they just walk right by you. Now if you made a loud noise they spook but otherwise they just walk around. Thanks for the England wishes. Is your town as small as ours. We have about three thousand people.
No not quite so small, around 11,000 people here. pretty rural but not quite so much as yours seems to be. I’d never go indoors if we had deer that close here!
I know. I love it and love seeing the deer and they just meander through the yards. It is so cool.
Hi danLrene I know you are tired and achy the drive to Denver and then lying on that bed hurts. I like you am claustrophobic and hate when they have to have them. Love the pics of the deer (one of the things I miss about Pueblo) and oh son’s garden is beautiful…as a child my daily chore was to hoe that hard ol dirt and I tell you I know it is backbreaking working as a child from 6 to 12 with that hoe and oh the blisters. LOL Good work ethic built that way though so guess gram knew what she was doing.
as for the zucchinni I do not know about canning maybe try Ball Canning . com or something. Maybe freeze. As for the way to eat it other than bread or raw. We love it fried I peel and slice milk and egg bath dredge in flour and fry until golden brown we eat it with sliced tomatoes, corn on the cob and green onion all from the garden and if I didn’t put my foot down my hubby would eat it every day for 2 meals a day. I dip my zuch in ranch dressing on my plate hubs like it plain with a lil no salt. If you have a little deep fryer it sure helps but you can do it in the reg. skillet. Hope you try it and like it. God Bless you both and stay stron my new blogger friend.~~Len Williams~Carver
thank you Len. It is amazing how even laying on the table for an xray can throw a chronic pain person into higher pain.
Son wants a fry daddy thing now to cook it in. LOL.
Oh I love fried squash of all kinds and I could eat nothing but veggies from the garden every day.
thanks friend and I enjoy your comments.
Awesome post! I’m sorry you have to go through the pain of a chronicle illness, but thank you for being a source of inspiration to us all! And the pictures were awesome too
Just wanted to let you know that I nominated you for the One Lovely Blog Award! Congratulations on this much deserved award!! http://hurdlestohappiness.wordpress.com/2012/07/18/one-lovely-blog-award/
Thank you so much for the award. And I am glad you like my blog. It is a great outlet for me.
I’m glad you’ve done it, and gotten it over with. And it’s wonderful that the deer should make such an unexpected appearance, something beautiful to think about, like your son’s garden.
Me too and yes the deer sort of made up for it or at least gave me something to focus on.
Naomi he has really done a good job on that garden and I told him he should feel great pride.
Deb, I’ve been in that machine a few times, and I’m with you – not my favorite place to be! I love your video and photos of the deer and garden and your beautiful mountains … at least it softens the trauma of the car ride and scan. ((((Gentle hugs))))
I love the traditional Italian jardiniere (http://www.food.com/recipe/jardiniere-66224), zucchini fritatta (http://www.food.com/recipe/veggie-fritatta-463110), or one of my personal favorites, baked zucchini ‘boats’ – (http://allrecipes.com/recipe/italian-zucchini-boats/) – I make my own version of these, but these recipes look really yummy! Enjoy the bountiful fruits of son’s wonderful garden!

Julie..thanks so much for the links. Son is real excited to get them. I sure loved the zucchini sticks. I love yellow squash too.
Now for a few days to regain some momentum.
hugs an love
Deer walking down a suburban street? Now I’ve seen everything. What an amazing thing to happen! Perhaps it’s a good sign for your CAT scan.
I am all too familiar with the after effects of CAT scans and MRI scans. Since you are claustrophobic, I’m glad that it was a CAT and not MRI, they are much longer and they put you into a tunnel. I hope all results are as you wish.
Thanks Judee. We live in a small town of three thousand and so seeing the deer is a daily thing. And I love it. Oh I can not do MRI’s unless it is an open one. They even tried sedating me for the tunnel one with three valium and I still had too much anxiety.
Great pictures love your rose and sorry for you and the cat scan the one I had to do my neck with contrast dye was bad also. You don’t want that one ether.
You are a trouper and know your interest in many things helps you get through it all. Like seeing the deer helped. Then how well your son is doing with the garden also helps I would be so proud too if my son did anything like that but won’t happen. LOL Take care. Prayers.
I have had so many scans I should glow in the dark dar. Have had the contrast dye one too. Oh I am so blessed by my son here and my other son too. hugs hon.
