Early Post For Tomorrow
I have doctor appointments tomorrow, so thought I would do an early post for tomorrow. Two doctor appointments in one day plus driving back and forth to Pueblo totally wipes me out.
So, how about a little gardening info. The garden is doing great and produce is coming in. We hope to start canning stuff this week but between the contractor starting tomorrow and doctor appointments for Tuesday and Thursday, that sort of put a crimp in the canning.
I bet most of you did not know that you can eat radish greens and cook the radishes like turnips. And boy, are they good. We fixed a “mess” of them the other night and the radishes were so tender and the greens were good..no bitterness at all. Most people think that the only way you can eat radishes is in a salad but we have tried them cooked several ways. One is like below with the greens and sliced up cooked radishes. I also have fixed them by boiling a whole pot, just like potatoes and mashing them with salt and pepper and butter and a little cream. They are so good. They kind of remind me of the taste of cauliflower when cooked. I call them the low-calorie mashed potatoes.
Our gourds are blooming. Son was so excited that he came in and got me last nite and wanted me to bring the camera out and take pictures. We are excited about this project for we hope to decorate the gourds and sell them. There are blooms all over these plants. This one below is the bushel basket gourd. To get the gourds that big, we will have to wait until a few gourds start growing after the blooms and then cut off all the other ones on the plants so the plant feeds all the energy into growing into one bushel basket gourd.
The pumpkins and butternut squash are getting bigger and bigger. One pumpkin is the size of a soccer ball already.
We now have tiny heads of corn and some of the plants are taller than son. This garden is truly a miracle garden.
Those little baby cucumber plants are finally getting big and are covered in blooms.
One of the appointments tomorrow is to find out about the EEG Brain test. Hopefully it will provide some answers as to why I keep falling. Will update when we get home.
