Work Your Dream

Finding Peace In This World

peace on earth

Attaining peace seems to be like the great race to get up in space. People are always looking for a “peaceful place” and keep searching for that utopia and never realize that utopia is inside of us just like happiness is. We have to create our peace. It is a journey not a destination.

Something has always drawn me to the earth…to nature. I always found the peace and contentment that I needed and would come away feeling nourished in a way that is hard to put words to. Today we are a world built on electronics and technology and people who are filled with rage and hate and anger. People have poor impulse control because it is easy to be hateful on a computer and walk away and never face the consequences of our actions.

I am proud of my connection to Native Americans and am proud of the Native Americans themselves and their old ways and beliefs. Much can be learned from their wisdom. When I look at the earth and what we have done to destroy it, I often wonder what it would be like on this earth today had the boats of pilgrims that came here had listened to the Native Americans on how to live on the earth and how to treat the waters and the land. I think they had a utopia that we messed up.  I was listening to one of the elders speak and he said had the white man listened and learned from them we would still be able to drink from the rivers today without fear.

My wish has always been for us all to live in peace. Can you imagine?  Can you imagine people who were kind, who helped their neighbors or those in need, who loved and laughed instead of the anger, hatred, angst, stress, and evilness we see now. That is my dream.

living in peace

Since we can only do what we can, the most important thing in finding peace is in creating it in your corner of the world. That means creating harmony in your home, with your loved ones, with your neighbors and in your life. It is the ripple effect for our peace will touch those around us and they will feel it and will touch those around them and the ripple goes on.

Sometimes when life is so hectic and we feel like we are pulling our hair out, we need that little place of utopia where we can refuel. I believe every home should have a peace sanctuary. Our homes either soothe or agitate and if we can create an environment within our homes that soothes, then those in the home will be more peaceful. IF you can not work on your whole home, work on one room where you can go to find peace and harmony and relax and shut out the rest of the world.

My bedroom obviously is my serenity room. It has the things in it that make me feel secure, relaxed and peaceful. I used to help people fix their homes to create harmony in energy because they would come in our home and say “your house is so peaceful and feels so serene, please tell me what you do”.

There are things you can do in your home to help cut down on the constant stress noises that we are exposed to. Things like brass, glass and plants help absorb sound and make your home more peaceful. Off set lighting helps remove some of the harsh glare that attacks our sense and aroma things like candles, etc help to soothe the senses. Soothing music that is played low helps to soothe the harshness of the day. If we do not treat ourselves with gentleness, then the stress and harshness of the world can overtake us like a cougar sneaking up on its prey. We come from the earth and taking ourselves back to the earth…in our homes, in our lives..helps us to find that harmony again.

When we can refuel ourselves, then we can pick up and go forth once more to tackle the things in the world we must do. We can not change what has happened in the world over the past years but we can change how we deal with those changes and that will help us find our peace and harmony.

  1. It would be wonderful to have a peaceful world, everyone sees peace differently and that is the problem with finding true and lasting peace. God bless, have a wonderful day.

  2. What an absolutely lovely post.
We do need to learn to be gentle with ourselves. Someday, if enough try, we can work our way back to the garden. Part of what is troubling our children ( who grow up to be disconnected angry adults) is the lack of time in nature – being outside in total darkness under a big sky of stars brings perspective, wonder, and a sense of how small and unimportant humans are in the universe.
    Simply wonderful thoughts here.

    • thank you. Yes I do believe that we are …most of us…some of us are not..we have learned…..too far from nature and so we do not have what the earth gives us. thanks again and thanks about Daisy’s coat. She is a doll. We sure do love her.

    • I could not agree more. We need to get ourselves and our children back to nature.
